The Spanish league has opened an investigation into a second-division match between Racing Santander and Hercules for possible match-fixing.

League spokesman Juan Carlos Santamaria said that the league is examining Racing’s 3-0 home win over Hercules on June 8. Racing denied any wrongdoing, while Hercules refused to comment.

This probe comes while state prosecutors continue to look into an alleged match-fix between top-division’s Levante and Deportivo in April.

Santamaria said the investigation into the Racing-Hercules game was launched after a report from a bookmaker that “warned there had been suspicious bets” placed on the game.

United’s Asia tour
Bangkok: Hundreds of fans gave Manchester United a stirring welcome as they landed in Thailand to start a flurry of Asian tours by top clubs. “It’s crazy whenever we visit this part of the world,” defender Rio Ferdinand told the club’s website. “The reception we get in the Asian countries is something else entirely. They come to airports at mad times in the morning to greet us, they hang around our hotels... it’s great and makes us feel really welcome.”

Rayo loses case
Lausanne: Financially troubled Rayo Vallecano lost a key legal battle while trying to overturn a ban from this season’s Europa League. The Court of Arbitration for Sport dismissed the Madrid club’s request for an interim ruling, would have let them enter next week’s third qualifying round draw.
