As expected, the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) special general body meeting gave provisional affiliation to five national sports federations, besides granting them voting rights for its elections on November 25.

On the recommendation of the IOA's five-member panel, all five
federations — Ice Skating Association of India, Ice Hockey Association of India, Indian Amateur Luge Association, Indian Golf Union and Modern Pentathlon Federation of India --were given one-year provisional affiliation.

After the meeting, IOA acting president, VK Malhotra said, provisional affiliation would be terminated if they don't comply with the IOA constitution.

The meeting ended peacefully with most items on the agenda, including increase in the travel allowance of IOA members, being passed without being debated. Malhotra also announced a three-member election commission to oversee the November 25 polls.

At the moment, IOA secretary-general, Randhir Singh, and newly-elected chairman of the India Amateur Boxing Federation (IABF), Abhey Chautala, are frontrunners for the post of president.
