Marcel Granollers and Marc Lopez battled to a five-set doubles triumph to keep five-time champions Spain alive in their Davis Cup World Group first-round tie against Canada on Saturday.

The pair of Granollers and Lopez, who won the doubles title at the ATP World Tour finals last
November, beat Daniel Nestor and Vasek Pospisil 4-6, 6-4, 6-7 (4/7), 6-3, 6-2.

Bryans upset
Jacksonville: Brazil's Marcelo Melo and Bruno Soares upset the top-ranked doubles team Mike and Bob Bryan 7-6 (6), 6-7 (7), 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 and kept the United States from clinching the first-round Davis Cup tie on Saturday.

It was only the third time the Bryan brothers dropped a Davis Cup rubber. It was also just the second time they lost a five-set match.
