The re-election of the BCCI president might have taken just minutes, but not everything was hunky-dory at the AGM on Sunday. Odisha Cricket Association president Ranjib Biswal’s promotion in the BCCI ladder was opposed by Bengal officials.
It was learnt that Biswal was lined up for the
treasurer’s post but the opposition meant that it went to Anirudh Chaudhary of Haryana. But the opposition came back to haunt Bengal when Biswal was elevated to the high-profile post of IPL chairman. The BCCI was looking for someone with a political background for the post, considering the fact that the next edition clashes with the general elections, and Biswal fitted the bill just fine.
Other decisions: Connor Williams replaced Chandrakant Pandit as chairman of junior selection committee; Amitabh Choudhary to head of the Marketing committee; Rajeev Shukla and Shivlal Yadav replaced Niranjan Shah and Arun Jaitley in disciplinary committee; J Dalmiya to head NE development committee.
