India start afresh after London low

The next 12 months are going to be crucial for men's hockey team, what with at least four tournaments, including the World Hockey League that will offer them a chance to qualify for the 2014 World Cup, coming up in this period.
First of the four important tournaments is the Champions
Trophy, starting in Melbourne (Australia) from December 1 to 9.

It's the first international tournament India are playing after the Olympics, and India skipper Sardar Singh sounded quite optimistic about their chances.

"There are many new faces in the side. We hope to gel well and put up a good show," said the midfielder. Ahead of the Melbourne event that will feature top teams apart from hosts Australia, India will also play nine-a-side tournament in Perth.

"Players have polished their basics in the camp; it's time to deliver now. Champions Trophy will be a good chance showcase out mettle," he said.

Soon after the Melbourne event, India will play in the Asian Champions Trophy in Doha.

WC 2014 Qualification
The 2014 World Cup will be held in Holland from June 2-15. 12 teams will compete.

The hosts, along with five continental champions, will qualify automatically. The remaining six teams will qualify though World League.
