Khidar Dafedar scored a century as Mumbai reached 270 for 2 wickets against Delhi on Day One of their U-16 Vijay Merchant Trophy final here. Mumbai began well with openers Abid Usmani (54) and Om Prakash Jaiswal (36).

Then Dafedar (124*) and Armaan Jaffer (55*) carried on and
remained unseparated at the draw of stumps. In DDCA league, Kandwil Sethi’s 104 and Praveen Kumar’s 4/22 helped Gemini Club and Kranti Star win while Telefunken beat Air India to lift Sahibzada Ajit Singh cricket title.

Largest squad for Special Olympics

New Delhi: India will be sending 58 ‘special’ athletes — its highest ever for the Special Olympics world winter games scheduled to take place in Pyeongchang, South Korea from January 29.

The 79-member Indian contingent comprises 58 athletes with intellectual disabilities in six disciplines and 15 coaches, apart from officials.

Kalmadi to chair Asian Athletics meet

New Delhi: Commonwealth Games scam-tainted Suresh Kalmadi is all set to chair a crucial meeting of the Asian Athletics Association here on Saturday, which will take stock of the continental championships which is scheduled to be held in Chennai in July.

The meeting will also be attended by International Association of Athletic Federations President Lamine Diack.
