Gill impresses in last leg

Team MRF driver Gaurav Gill got the better of potential champion and teammate Chris Atkinson, taking a 1.8 second lead after Stage 1 of the China Rally, the last of the six Asia-Pacific Rally Championship legs.

Yuya Sumiyama was second 1.8 seconds adrift, while Atkinson, who has more or less wrapped up the title, did not take many chances on the short and rough 1.8km Super Special stage, emerging third quickest.

Harinder in semis

Chennai: Indian qualifier Harinder Pal Sandhu  upset the top seed England's Adrian Grant 11-7, 5-11, 6-11, 11-8, 11-5 to reach the semifinals of the PSA World Tour Challenger-15 squash at Valencia in Spain.

RK Shetty resigns

In a massive blow to the Indian Hockey Federation (IHF), RK Shetty has resigned as its president citing “personal reasons”.     Sources said Shetty had stepped down due to differences with  secretary general Ashok Mathur and member Joaquim Carvalho.
