The Sports Authority of India (SAI) will give financial assistance to the Indian contingent participating under the banner of the School Games Federation of India (SGFI) in international events.
According to regional director, Roque Dias, SAI will bear all expenses, including air
passage and daily allowance, of the basketball, swimming and tennis teams. SAI has already sanctioned R1 crore for the purpose, he added.
Apart from giving financial assistance, SAI will also bear the expenses incurred during the coaching camps in Pune. After the conclusion of the camps, trials to select the teams were also held.
The basketball team will be going to Cyprus while the venue for the swimming competition is Israel. The tennis contingent will go to Australia next month.
