The sports ministry on Friday set January 31 as the deadline for all National Sports Federations (NSFs) to incorporate the sports code in their constitution, failing which their recognition would be under threat. Sports secretary, PK Deb, told PTI that the government had issued letters
to all NSFs asking them to adopt the age and tenure provisions of the code. “The concerned NSFs are requested to expedite the process and bring the proposal for amendment in the next general body meeting,” Deb said.

“This may be treated as most immediate and a reply may be sent to the ministry by January 31. The NSFs are also advised that continuation of their recognition may be impacted if the amendments are not carried out”.

Regarding the suspended Indian Boxing Federation's (IABF) claim to have taken steps towards regaining recognition from the International Boxing Association by preparing the draft of an amended constitution, Deb said the Ministry would have to see whether it is in consonance with the sports code.
