With Sania Mirza’s recent drop in rankings, the Tennis Advisory Committee (TAC) of the All India Tennis Association (AITA) is concerned about the London Olympics and has mulled to send her name for a wild card entry if she doesn’t make the direct entry cut.

With the mixed doubles event being introduced for the first time in the Games, in a TAC meeting headed by Jaidip Mukerjea in New Delhi on Thursday, it was concluded that Sania’s representation was crucial.

According to rules, the top 64 singles and top 10 doubles players are assured of a direct entry. Sania is currently ranked No. 105 in singles and No. 11 in doubles.

Sania still has time to improve her position as the entry deadline is June 21, 2012 and rankings as of June 11 will be considered for direct entry.
