Australian teenager Laura Robson caused a stir, labelling her female tennis rivals as 'sluts’ in a magazine interview, The Courier Mail reported on Monday.

Robson, who won the junior Wimbledon girls’ crown in 2008, in the July edition of British Vogue, said, “Some of the tennis girls, they’re sluts.”

The 16-year-old British player, who was born in Australia, further said, “They go with every guy and such a bad name for themselves and you don’t want to be known for stuff like that. You want to be more discreet.” Robson, however, wrote on her twitter page on Sunday that some of the statements made in the fashion magazine were taken out of context.

“Really enjoyed the photo-shoot and looking forward to seeing the full piece, shame some quotes were taken out of context today though.”

While she asserted that there was no infighting on the girls’ circuit, she announced herself as the “gossip queen”.

Claiming to hate wild nights, Robson said she didn’t smoke or drink and was always tucked in bed by 10 pm after a hard day’s work at the Mouratoglou Tennis Academy in Paris.

“My coach knows I’m sensible. I don’t like the taste of alcohol and I hate smoke. Some go to nightclubs, but I’m not interested,” she said.

“Yes, there are moments when you speak to your old friends, and they’re all going out to parties every weekend, and I’m stuck in Paris boring my brains out.”

She also admitted having a crush on Russian Marat Safin and has been Andy Murray’s doubles partner.
