Bad day for seeds in grasscourt nationals

Siddharth Rawat of Uttar Pradesh was shown the door by another unseeded player from Tamil Nadu, Fariz Mohammad, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 in 115 minutes. Local favourite Rupesh Roy got the better of fourth seed Shahbaz Khan of Maharashtra 6-4, 6-0.
Burman victorious
In the women's draw too, second seed Shweta Rana was ousted by local girl Shivika Burman 6-3, 7-6(5). Burman was coming back from a nine-month long injury lay-off but that her shoulder was doing just fine was proved by her strong serve and volley game.
In another match Rushmi Chakravorthi thrashed Manya Nagpal 6-2, 6-2. Local girls Treta Bhattacharya and Amrita Mukherjee lost their respective matches in contrasting styles.
While Treta lost after a tough battle to doubles partner Natasha Palha 6-4, 4-6, 2-6; Amrita was meekly shown the door by Bhuvana Kalva of Andhra Pradesh 2-6, 0-6.
