US goalkeeper Tim Howard walked to the swimming pool with a small Band-Aid on his right ribs the day after taking a kick to the chest from England's Emile Heskey in the teams' 1-1 draw.
It was Howard's way of letting his teammates know he would be all right to play against Slovenia, drawing howls of laughter. "We just started laughing," US defender Jay DeMerit said. "There was a lot made about his horrific injury. It was just quite funny to come out with a little 'boo-boo' on his ribs."
