German Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich staged a faultless performance against Manchester City to win 2-0 in their Champions League football match at the Allianz Arena here Tuesday.
Guests Manchester City had a better start as Bayern needed some time in front of 66,000 spectators. The hosts took over to open the scoring as striker Mario Gomez poked home a follow up shot from close in the 38th minute, Xinhua reported.
Seconds before break Gomez sealed the deal for the side's second victory in the Champions League when he sent home a rebound from very close range.
Bayern dominated the second half against Manchester City to remain on top of group A with six points, followed by Naples with four points.
Manchester City collected just one point and Villarreal got none point out of two matches.
It was the 10th consecutive match for the Bavarians with a clean sheet.
