A Saudi Arabian Football Federation official says former Brazil defender Ricardo Gomes has signed a 9 million ($13 million) contract to coach the national team for the next three years.

Abdul-Mohsen al-Duhaimi, secretary of the technical committee, said on Saturday that Prince Nawaf bin Faisal, head of the Youth Welfare, signed an initial contract with Gomes.

Al-Duhaimi said that Gomes will arrive in the kingdom next week.
In January, Saudi Arabia fired two coaches, the Portuguese Jose Peseiro after opening the Asian Cup with a stunning 2-1 loss to Syria, then his replacement, Nassir al-Johar, after exiting the Asian Cup with a 5-0 loss to Japan in the group stage.
