England has called up West Ham striker Carlton Cole as cover ahead of Wednesday's friendly against France after Andy Carroll and Gabriel Agbonlahor were injured over the weekend. Neither Carroll or Agbonlahor have been ruled out of the match but Cole has been drafted into the squad as a precaution.
Cole has not been a regular starter for the Hammers this season, but has played seven games for England, the last of which came against Egypt in March.
Carroll was one of four players called up by England on Saturday for the first time after the striker showed good form for Newcastle. The other new additions were Cardiff striker Jay Bothroyd, Sunderland midfielder Jordan Henderson and Manchester United defender Chris Smalling.
