Indian football captain Sunil Chhetri left for Singapore on Monday after getting his visa to travel to the country for an AFC Cup match on April 10.
Chhetri, who had earlier been denied visa by the Singapore Consulate in Mumbai, received his visa this afternoon and left for Singapore by an evening flight for Churchill Brothers' Group D match against Singapore Warriors.
It has been learnt that the AIFF and Churchill Brothers approached SAI to intervene and take up the matter with the Ministry of External Affairs.
No medal for Vijay in ISSF World Cup
New Delhi: Olympic silver medallist Vijay Kumar could not live up to the billing as he failed to qualify for the finals of the 25m rapid fire pistol event at the ISSF World Cup in Changwon, Korea on Monday. Vijay was placed a disappointing 18th in the qualification stage. The other Indians, Tamang and Harpreet, finished 13th and 16th respectively, but did not qualify either.
TN to host World Chess Championship
Chennai: Tamil Nadu will host the World Chess Championship from Nov 6 to 26. Vishwanathan Anand and world No 1 Magnus Carlsen will take part in the event, being held for the first time in India.
