Champions League debutants Tottenham Hotspur will not be intimidated by nine-time champions Real Madrid or their imposing Bernabeu stadium when they square up in Tuesday’s quarterfinal first leg, manager Harry Redknapp said.

The English Premier League club’s 1-0 victory over AC Milan at the equally daunting San Siro in February will help the players cope with the atmosphere at Real’s giant arena, Redknapp said in an interview.

Ronaldo fitness
Real and Tottenham have both been hit by injuries and a question mark still hangs over whether the Spanish club’s forward Cristiano Ronaldo will have recovered from a thigh strain in time to feature in the tie.

Inter v Schalke
Europe’s Champions League is considered the pinnacle of club football but seems to have become a sideshow for troubled Inter Milan and Schalke 04 who meet in the quarters in the San Siro. The two clubs, who will be playing out a repeat of the 1997 UEFA Cup final, are both mired in domestic woes that have overshadowed the build-up to a tie defending champions Inter are favourites to win.
