Current Indian ODI captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni wished his former skipper Sourav Ganguly on the occasion of Ganguly's 43rd birthday on Wednesday by posting on his Facebook page a poignant photo of the two sharing a light moment during a Test match, while wishes poured in for 'Dada', as Ganguly is fondly known, on Twitter, with messages from Sachin Tendulkar, Anil Kumble, and others.

On the eve of his birthday, Ganguly had said about his plans for the occasion, "Nothing new... This time, I'm in Kolkata and will spend the time with my family."

Having represented the national cricket team in 113 Tests and 311 ODIs, Ganguly has been one of the most successful Indian captains. Leading the Men in Blue to the famous Natwest ODI series triumph in 2002, Ganguly was instrumental in instilling confidence and aggression in the Indian side -- a quality that was often perceived as being conspicuous by its absence until then.

Sachin Tendulkar, arguably India's favourite cricketer and Ganguly's India teammate for several years, wished Ganguly.

Anil Kumble, who also shared the Indian dressing room with the 'Prince of Kolkata', also tweeted his wishes.

The BCCI was early to wish its ex-captain a happy birthday.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) was another cricket governing body to express its wishes.

IPL franchises Mumbai Indians and Rajasthan Royals also wished the left-handed batsman.
