Drogba looks to stake claim for Chelsea place

sports Updated: Feb 17, 2011 16:08 IST

Didier Drogba will look to prove he is worthy of a regular place in Chelsea's team when he returns to the starting lineup for Saturday's FA Cup fourth-round replay at home to Everton.

The Ivory Coast international, Chelsea's chief striker for the past six seasons, was dropped to the bench for Monday's Premier League match at Fulham to accommodate Fernando Torres, the club's recent 50 million pound ($81 million) signing from Liverpool.

But with Torres cup-tied, Drogba will be back in the starting XI against Everton and will attempt to increase the goal threat of the defending champions, who haven't scored in their last two outings. The fifth round also starts this weekend, with non-league Crawley visting Premier League leader Manchester United.
