Fernando Torres plans to celebrate his new big-money contract by scoring the goals that finally end Liverpool's long wait to be crowned kings of England.

By the end of next season it will be 20 years since the Reds last won the English title and Torres is determined to help Rafa Benitez's side put that unwanted statistic to bed in the next year.

The Spain international, who married his childhood sweetheart this week, was given a perfect wedding present on Thursday when Liverpool agreed to improve his current contract, which runs until 2013.

His wages have risen to almost the same level as Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard on around 100,000 pounds a week and he now has an option to extend the deal until 2014.

Torres, who has scored 50 goals in 84 games for the club, said on his official website: "I want to remain here at Anfield. Since arriving at Liverpool I feel that there is a bond and commitment.

"We listened to the club's offer, which came on the back of two seasons of positive work. My objective now is to win a trophy with Liverpool next season."
