India U-16 football team ends USA tour with 2-2 draw
Prem Kumar gave the visitors the perfect start with a goal in the 14th minute of the match last night.
After drubbing their opponents by big margins in their previous matches, India Under-16 football team wrapped up their exposure-cum-training tour of United States with a 2-2 draw against Reading Rage of Pennsylvania at Charleston in West Virginia.
Prem Kumar gave the visitors the perfect start with a goal in the 14th minute of the match last night.
However, the lead could only last for seven minutes as Rage equalised through Kevin Mathews, who flicked the ball over an outstretched India custodian Gurpreet Singh Sandhu.
From then onwards, the match turned out to be a midfield tussle as both the sides went into the breather tied at 1-1.
The Indians came out with fire in the second session and got the lead back in the 50th minute through Tirthankar Sarkar, who fired home a volley from just inside the penalty area.
Just when it seemed that the Indian youngsters will maintain an all-win record in the tour, Rage's Tyler Regan scored the equaliser in the injury time to see the match end on 2-2.
