Indians advance in doubles, singles campaign over

On a mixed day for the Indians, Prakash Amritraj crashed out of the singles event but entered the doubles' semifinal partnering Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi in the ATP Challenger tournament in Binghamton.

Prakash retired midway through his pre-quarterfinal match against Sergei Bubka of Ukraine bringing an end to India's sinlges campaign in the tournament.

He was trailing 3-6 2-4 when he conceded the match at the $50,000 hard court event.

But Prakash and Qureshi entered the semifinal of the event and will lock horns with South Africa's Rik De Voest and American Scott Lipsky.

The Indo-Pak pair beat Bubka and his Russian partner A Kudryavtsev 6-3, 7-6 (3), while Voest and Lipsky defeated Israeli pair of Amir Hadad and harel Levy 6-3, 7-5.

In another doubles event, fourth seeds Harsh Mankad and his American partner David Martin lost 3-6 5-7 to Anderson and Deheart in their quarterfinal clash.
