Japanese media report that the country's football association president has confirmed Mohamed bin Hammam will run against Sepp Blatter for the FIFA presidency.

Japan's national new agency Kyodo quoted Junji Ogura on Friday as saying he "was asked to support (bin Hammam) because he is running for the FIFA presidency."

Asian Football Confederation president bin Hammam of Qatar will hold a media conference later Friday at his Kuala Lumpur headquarters where he is expected to officially announce he will run for the presidency of football's world governing body against Blatter, who has run FIFA for 13 years.

FIFA's 208 national federations will vote on the presidency June 1 in Zurich.
