Sporting Clube de Goa, by virtue of Ogba Kalu's dying minute goal against United Kerala, went ahead of United SC to top Group D here on Tuesday. They now have six points after United SC were held by Air India in Tuesday's earlier encounter.
After making all the right moves, United SC would regret not getting that elusive goal that could have sealed their berth in the Federation Cup semi-finals. Blame Air India custodian Pawan Kumar and their stubborn defence.
Air India, on one point, and United Kerala, who are yet to open their account, have exited the Federation Cup. United SC, with four points, now have to beat Sporting Clube de Goa in their last group encounter on Thursday.
That Kumar was kept busy throughout the match was proof United SC were attacking at will but Air India was a throw back on old times when the Mumbai team were reputed for their defence. That said, United SC had more than the fair share of the opportunities but were a dud when it came to converting. New recruit Kayne Vincent again wowed with his moves but fluffed at the goalmouth.
