McGrath backs Anderson to surpass him

MELBOURNE: Former Aussie pace great Glenn McGrath believes England’s James Anderson can surpass his tally of 563 Test wickets, provided he stays fit. Anderson reached 451 scalps in the second Test win over Sri Lanka. He needs 112 more to equal McGrath, the most successful Test fast bowler. The Aussie, fourth on the list of highest Test wicket-takers, said: “If he stays on the park, then he can do that quite easily, and knock me off… When he’s firing and the ball’s swinging, he’s as tough (to face) as any bowler going around. He’s played 115 Tests, which for a fast bowler is exceptional.”
