There were virtually no upsets in the boys' section of the Asian Junior Tennis Championships being played at the RK Khanna Tennis complex. Of the top 15 seeds in action, as many as 13 made it to the next round.

Sai Kartik Nakireddi is the top seeded Indian in the fray at number four, and he looked in fine touch in the first match of these championsips. After strolling through the first set against Dmitriy Borodkin of Kazakhstan, Nakireddi fought in the second. He finally closed out the match 6-0, 6-4.

Ronit Singh Bisht and Vaidik Munshaw, seeded fifth and sixth, also advanced.

Mansingh Athare produced the only upset, beating 16th seed Leander Lazaro of the Philippines, 6-2, 2-6, 6-2, in a tough three-setter. The Chinese boys, seeded one, two and three, also made it through easily.

In the girls' section, national champion Ankita Raina survived some scary moments against Pakistan's Ushna Suhail before making it through to the next round.

The top Indian girl, Rishika Sunkara (7) outplayed Abhilasha Ahuja 6-1, 6-1.
