Leaders East Bengal slumped to their first defeat in I-League 4, losing 0-1 to bottom-ranked ONGC in Kolhapur. Making it a good day for Maharashtra teams was Pune FC stealing a point from Mohun Bagan in Kolkata after a barren draw.

Baba Tunde's superb angular placement from the right edge of the 18-yard box stunned East Bengal whose coach Trevor James Morgan was banished from the touchline because of improper conduct in the 13th round match against Mohun Bagan.

ONGC now have 10 points and can stay second-last if Salgaocar beat Viva Kerala on Sunday. Salgaocar will then join East Bengal on the top with 31 points from 14 rounds. In Kolkata, Mohun Bagan and Pune FC missing a slew of players due to injury and suspensions produced a bland afternoon saga. Pune FC coach Derrick Pereira said the 1:45pm kick-off on artificial turf made it difficult for players.

On Sunday, Goan outfit Salgaocar meet Viva Kerala in Margao, while, Air India face a tough Mumbai FC challenge in Kolhapur.
