After trailing by a goal in the first half, Dempo SC Goa fought back in the second half to defeat Pune FC 2-1 in the ninth round I-league match, played at Nehru stadium here today.
Pune FC led 1-0 at half time, scoring through Keita Mandjou. Dempo scored two goals in the second half through Ranty Martins (80th) and Roberto Silva (84th) to collect full points. Dempo had the first chance to take the lead but rival defender Selwyn Fernandes made a goalline save of Nicolau Borges.
Pune FC showed good coordination in midfield as they came up with a counter move and took the lead in the 14th minute through a clinical finish from Keita Mandjou.
K Ajayan from the left relayed the ball to unmarked Mandjou, who seeing rival keeper Laxmikant Kattimani moving up, essayed a firm shot from 20-yards that found the far corner of the net.
Keita again had an opportunity to increase the lead in the 22nd minute after defender John Dias was beaten by an Ajayan pass. Keita tried to dodge the keeper but fell short.
