Brazil, with playmaker Ronaldinho back in the side, struggled to beat 10-man Ghana 1-0 in a friendly at Fulham's Craven Cottage ground.
Leandro Damiao struck the only goal on the stroke of halftime,running on to a defence-splitting ball from Fernandinho and finding the corner of the net from a tight angle. Ghana never threatened after having defender Daniel Opare sent off in the 32nd minute.
Red card changed things, with Ghana retreating after halftime in a bid to keep Brazil at bay. During the match Dean produced seven yellow cards in addition to the two cautions received by Opare.
Ronaldinho, only came to the fore towards the end delivered a perfect cross to provide substitute Alexandre Pato with a header that forced a save from Ghana’s new goalkeeper Adam Kwarasey. He also saved a free kick by Ronaldinho in 89th min.
Socrates in hospital
Brazil great Socrates has been readmitted to hospital in Sao Paulo over a stomach haemorrhage suffered two weeks ago. He had been reportedly put in intensive care unit. The 57-year-old had previously been hospitalised on August 20.
Real Madrid striker Gonzalo Higuain scored twice to inspire Argentina to a 3-1 victory over Nigeria in a friendly on Tuesday at Dhaka's Bangabandhu National Stadium. Captain Lionel Messi provided the pass for Higuain to open the scoring in the 24th minute. Angel Di Maria made it 2-0 in the 26th, before substitute Chinedu Obasi pulled one back for Nigeria just after halftime. Higuain scored his second goal in the 65th.
On Monday night a retired Nigerian footballer was detained here after trying to take a gun into the hotel where his national team is staying ahead of Tuesday's game. Emeka Ezeugo was held awith a revolver.
Man City probe Email
Manchester City have opened an internal investigation into an message sent from chief executive Garry Cook’s email account which appeared to mock the cancer-suffering mother of defender Nedum Onuoha.
