Theo Walcott's sparkling early-season form continued on Saturday as he scored again in Arsenal's 2-1 Premier League victory at Blackburn Rovers.

Walcott, who netted a hat-trick in a 6-0 home thrashing of Blackpool last week, looked sharp again and he fired Arsenal ahead with a fine finish after 20 minutes at Ewood Park. Andrei Arshavin sealed a deserved victory for Arsenal early in the second half after Mame Diouf had levelled for Rovers on his first Premier League start.

Arsenal went to the top of the table with seven points but their stay was cut short later in the evening when Chelsea beat Stoke City 2-0.

India end Portugal tour with a draw

Lisbon: The Indian football team ended their month-long training camp here with a 1-1 draw against third division outfit Odivelas Futebol Clube in the last practice match of the tour on Saturday morning.

Baldeep Singh and Mehrajuddin Wadoo paired up in the centre of midfield with Rahim Nabi and Jagpreet Singh working the flanks.

Both the teams started the match on cautious note and the first half ended goalless.

After a pale first half, the hosts drew first blood in the 60th minute, but hardly could they have planned their further course of action when India retaliated strongly with N.S. Manju bringing his side back to level two minutes later.

The match ended on neutral terms, bringing the team’s Portuguese sojourn to an end.
