Sania Mirza's hopes of winning back-to-back WTA doubles title went up in smoke after losing the quarter-finals of the Tashkent Open, in straight sets along with partner Maria Elena Camerin.
The Indo-Italian combination lost 5-7 1-6 to Alexandra Dulgheru of Romania and Magdalena Rybrikova of Slovakia in little over one hour. Sania and Maria earned 70 ranking points USD 1650 as prize money.
Sania had won the Guangzhou International Open along with Edina Gallovits of Romania, last week. That was Sania's first WTA title in 17 months and ninth doubles trophy overall.
