Abhishek Yadav's twin strikes powered India to a 2-0 win against Associacio Esportiva El Prat, a third division club, in their second friendly match on the tour of Spain.

The winning feeling is always good, Yadav told HT from Barcelona on Thursday. “When you win a match it makes the team feel good. And, of course, it's good to come out of India and win matches. It helps improve the confidence of the players and that reflects in the performance of the team,” he said on Thursday.

“I mean it not only does good things to you personally but to the entire team,” he added.

Yadav was happy that his contribution led to the win. “It always feels good to score goals and that too against some strong opponents,” said Yadav, who last scored for India in the Nehru Cup two years ago. “This is the first time that I have scored twice in a match for India,” he further stated.

His career blighted by injury worries, Yadav remembered “the bad phase” of not getting a game in the AFC Cup but managed to get through.

After a barren first-half, India coach Bob Houghton introduced Yadav and he obliged on the hour-mark by heading in Renedy Singh’s cross. Eleven minutes later, he again found the target with a header off a cross from Deepak Mondal to seal the victory.

India play next match on Saturday and the final friendly on August 5.
