MUMBAI: Zinedine Zidane became the third Galactico to land on these shores after Roberto Carlos and Luis Figo on Thursday.

The French football legend, currently the manager of Spanish football club Real Madrid, landed at the Mumbai Airport in the afternoon on Thursday and was greeted by a crowd of 50-odd hysterical fans and popping flashbulbs.

The city has been bedecked with giant hoardings announcing the 1998 World Cup winner’s visit as the ambassador of a luxury housing project for the many days now, ramping up the anticipation.

And the figure of Zidane himself arriving through the airport gates drove the photographers and fans hysterical.

While fans jostled for one selfie, lensmen clamoured for a good shot. Through it all, Zidane remained his composed self, walking with the same grace he would if he were at Santiago Bernabeu.

Zidane tried to fox the awaiting photographers by trying to leave from a different exit on a different floor. However, Mumbai’s lensmen were too smart, having experienced such moves by Bollywood stars and cricketers.
