India lose 2-3 to Germany

The India junior team failed to impress when it mattered the most, as they lost 2-3 to Germany in the summit clash in the Sultan of Johor Cup hockey tournament on Sunday. India began the final as favourites having beaten Germany 3-1 in the league stage. It took Germany just 11 minutes to
take the lead when Jonas Gomoll scored from their first penalty corner. The Indians, however, drew parity in the 24th minute through Satbir Singh's field goal. Germany went ahead through Joshua Delarber in the 30th, and after change of ends, the Germans continued to dominate.

India 5th in Squash
New Delhi: India capped their impressive run in Women's World Team Squash with a best-ever fifth-place finish, defeating Ireland 2-1 in the classification match in Nimes, France. Joshana Chinappa put India ahead, beating Aisling Blake, but 13-time Irish champion, Madeline Perry, levelled matters by gaining a revenge win over Dipika Pallikal.

It was down to teenager Anaka Alankamony to clinch victory for India when the 18-year-old from Chennai defeated Laura Mylotte 11-8, 11-7, 11-8 in the decider.

Rawal slams 82
New Delhi: Delhi under-25 ended the second day against Maharashtra at 271 for five. Vaibhav Rawal is batting on 82. Karan Harit made 48. Earlier, Maharashtra were dismissed for 295. Paceman Sunny Sehrawat took 5 for 34.

Meanwhile, Rani Bagh beat United India by 41 runs in a DDCA League match.
