The protracted suspense over the TDP-BJP alliance and seat-sharing agreement could end on Saturday.
According to LVSRK Prasad, the TDP’s media committee chairman, BJP and NDA national leaders would arrive in Hyderabad on Saturday for a final discussion on the seat-sharing with TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu. A formal announcement would be made after the meeting, he said.
The two parties have been discussing a seat-sharing pact for the past few00000 weeks but could not arrive at an agreement on the number and constituencies that each party would contest.
Earlier in the day, the TDP had announced that Naidu would release the first list of assembly candidates but the party suspended the move at the last minute, “following a call from the BJP leaders” a TDP source said. Five days remain for the last day of filing nominations in Telangana on May 9. TDP leaders expressed their displeasure at the stalemate that they say has been “created by the BJP by asking for seats where the TDP is strong”.
“It (seat-sharing) should be agreeable to us. Talks are going on in good faith and we expect to arrive at a win-win situation,” Naidu had said on Thursday.
