Gluttony is 20-year-old Kriti Sharma’s favourite ‘sin’ — “If it helps, I’m fat!” she grins. It’s also the theme of the story that this third year English literature student at Ramjas college is going to complete and upload this weekend on the Literati website. Literati
2010, IIT Delhi’s annual literature festival, kicked off on Friday. The fest has a range of online events such as magazine-making, caption of the day and haiku etc. One of the unique events this year is the short story writing competition, open to all. Publishing portal Serenewoods (SW), will bring out the winning entries as a paperback. Swapnil Chugh, the institute’s alumnus and brain behind SW, says the idea came from his fortnightly writers’ meet. “People are always excited about being published so we thought of a short story competition. I want the book to be based on one broad idea, hence the seven sins ,” he says. What about the stories being original? “We’ll Google the stories as much as we can,” he says.

The winning entries will be decided on Sunday at a writers’ meet. So if the ‘sins’ inspire you, get cracking.

September 24-26.
