Veteran Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan was "hale and hearty" after undergoing a three-hour operation on Saturday for an abdominal ailment, a hospital official said.
Senior Bachchan on Saturday even posted his first tweets after his abdominal surgery and said that it took long in operation because two surgeries had to be done on either side.
He tweeted: "Back ..!! Thank you for your prayers.. your love and wishes never fail..indebted for life, one that I shall never be able to pay back."
"@juniorbachchan OK ... Paa !! Am already in bed .. been on it the whole day, wrote Amitabh Bachchan (@SrBachchan) on Twitter.
He tweets: "Took long because 2 surgeries had to be done on either side..yes there is pain, but nothing good in life ever achieved without it!"
"Took almost 5 hrs on the OT, but could feel the concern and wishes of the TwFmXt every minute .. you all are incredible .. thank you," BigB also tweeted.
Bachchan, 69, has a history of abdominal problems -- the legacy of an accident suffered while filming three decades ago.
"The operation lasted three hours. Bachchan is hale and hearty now," a spokesman for the Seven Hills Hospital in India's entertainment capital Mumbai said.
Bachchan, who acts in several films a year, is the father of top Bollywood star Abhishek who is wed to leading actress Aishwarya Rai.
He was admitted to hospital Saturday morning after complaining of abdominal pain earlier in the week, sparking worries about his health among thousands of his adoring fans.
