After several Facebook fan pages sprang up to demand justice for actor Jiah Khan who committed suicide earlier this month, it’s fans of her former boyfriend Sooraj Pancholi, accused in the abetment of the actor’s death, who’ve retorted with equally aggressive pages in his support.
The development has led to an online war-like situation between the two sides. The Facebook page, ‘Stand Up for Sooraj Pancholi’ has 445 likes and a fan post on the page reads, “By arresting Sooraj are they trying to say that none can break up nemore!! And just cuz one person is alive in d relationship doesn’t mean dat person hasta b held responsible (sic).” There’s also a Twitter page, ‘Stand Up For Sooraj’, that says, ‘Sooraj Pancholi has wrongly been accused in abetting the suicide of Jiah Khan.’
Earlier, Bollywood personalities Anurag Kashyap, Sanjay Gupta, Abhishek Kapoor, Sanjay Leela Bhansali and more recently, actor Mini Mathur, spoke up for Sooraj.
Meanwhile, Jiah’s fans are also defending her fervently. “Sooraj needs to be kept behind bars for a long time. That’s where he belongs,” a fan posted on the FB page, ‘Justice for Jiah Khan’. On Friday, Jiah’s mother, Rabbiya Khan, tweeted, “I don’t care who is on my side and who isn’t ... even if God wishes to take sides it’s his prerogative (sic).”
