Justin Bieber’s Mumbai concert for the Purpose World Tour just got over, but more big names from the international showbiz arena are coming here. Be prepared for full-on entertainment, as British singer Ed Sheeran, and American rapper and music producer Lil Jon arrive here soon, while the wrestling group The New Day is already here. That’s not all. We hear that Hollywood actor Tom Cruise, the star of the Mission Impossible films, might shoot some scenes for MI6 in India. And that Hollywood actor Demi Moore, part of the cross-border film project Love Sonia, could promote the film in India.
The past year, too, had quite a few big names such as Coldplay, Macklemore, Jay Z and more visit the country. It seems like India is attracting all the right attention. This year is expected to be packed with star visits. Here is a list of the stars who will be in the country soon.
British singer Ed Sheeran first came to India and performed to a packed audience at Mahalaxmi Race Course, Mumbai, and he will be back this year to give his Indian fans another dose of his chart-topping hits. The Lego House hitmaker recently added nine new cities to his Asia tour, and Mumbai made it to the list, too. So if you missed him last time, you can catch him this year on November 19.
The American rapper, known best for hits like Get Loose and Turn Down For What, will come to India for the first time ever to perform a live DJ set at Kitty Su in Delhi. Lil Jon’s set on May 20 is expected to last 90 minutes and will be a mix of hip hop and trap music. He is also expected to visit spots around Delhi and sample some local cuisine.
The New Day
Kofi Kingston and Big E, two-thirds of the WWE’s professional wrestling stable, are in India for a three-day tour from May 10-12. If you love WWE as much as you love cricket (though, cricket trumps all in India), you must have had a double treat. The duo, Kofi Kingston and Big E, not only met WWE fans here but also made an appearance on the IPL analysis show Extraaa Innings T20 on May 10, during the pre-show for the Gujarat Lions vs Delhi Daredevils match.
It had been reported earlier this year that Tom Cruise and his Mission Impossible 6 team will shoot at various locations across India. This country first made a brief appearance in the final sequence of Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol (the 4th installment of the franchise), when the characters came to Mumbai. But if rumours are to be believed, India has a bigger role this time around.
There is strong buzz that Hollywood actor Demi Moore, known for films such as Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle and GI Jane, would come to India to promote the Indian-American collaboration film Love Sonia, which has been directed by Tabrez Noorani.
