Farah Khan in a still from Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi.
After the infamous slapping incident at city lounge Aurus in January, Shah Rukh Khan and Shirish Kunder made headlines once again last week. But this time, the report insinuated that the editor-turned-director Shirish did not want to edit wife Farah Khan’s Happy New Year (HNY) because it stars Shah Rukh.
But now, Farah has come forth to clear the air. It was the Om Shanti Om (2007; OSO) director who did not want her husband to work on the film. “Shrish can’t edit any longer since he has become a director. Anyway, he shouldn’t, since he is going to start Kick with Salman (Khan) after Joker. Plus, he has turned producer and has already made two films,” says Farah.
So far, both of Farah’s SRK-starrers — OSO and Main Hoon Na (2004) — have been edited by Shirish. However, now Farah feels he is too busy to continue doing so. “I can’t call him anytime I want to and say, ‘come and edit it (my film) in the night.’ Since the editor has to be constantly available, I myself didn’t want him to work on HNY. But I’m sure he will edit Kick,” says Farah.
Meanwhile, reports are rife that besides SRK, Farah has also signed Abhishek Bachchan and John Abraham on for HNY.
Shah Rukh Khan and Shirish Kunder were involved in a slap controversy recently.
Ask her about this and she explains, “I can’t say anything because no one has been confirmed. We want to finalise the cast and we will make a formal announcement.”
