Pakistani-origin Bollywood starlet Laila Khan, best known for her role opposite Rajesh Khanna in 2008 Bollywood movie Wafaa, has allegedly been shot dead.
Laila Khan was married to Munir Khan, a member of Bangladeshi terror outfit Harkat-ul-Jihad al-Islami.
Laila Khan was declared missing since January 2012 and now the Jammu and Kashmir police has confirmed the news of her death.
Wafaa was a comeback film for Rajesh Khanna, where he was seen getting intimate with Laila Khan.
Wafaa was a box office failure and received mostly negative reviews.
Wafaa was written by Salim Raza and directed by Rakesh Sawant.
Director Rakesh Sawant was shooting his second film Jinnat with Laila Khan just before she disappeared from Mumbai.
The Crime Branch of Mumbai police brought forest contractor Pervez Tak to Mumbai tonight in connection with Bollywood starlet Laila Khan abduction case.
The Crime Branch, which is probing the kidnapping case of Laila and her family, had yesterday got the permission from Kishtwar court of Jammu to bring Tak to Mumbai. Tak would be produced before the Esplanade court in south Mumbai tomorrow.
Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Niket Kaushik confirmed the development. The forest contractor, arrested by Jammu and Kashmir police, had reportedly told the interrogators that Laila and others had been shot dead in Maharashtra last year.
However, the starlet and her family - mother Shelina, elder sister Hazmina, twin siblings Zara and Imran and another relative- had gone missing from here in February last year. A case of kidnapping was registered at the Oshiwara police station here yesterday, on the complaint of her father Nadir Patel.
According to the complaint, Tak and his accomplice Asif had kidnapped Laila and others. The crime branch claimed to have recovered around 1,000 photographs of Laila with many high ranking officials and politicians while searching her house in suburban Oshiwara
