Actor Martin Sheen is hoping to return to Europe and tackle the 800 kilometres El Camino de Santiago pilgrimage alone and on foot before he dies.
“I’ve done it in a car, I’ve done it in a film and I still look forward to doing it with no camera, no car, no phone; just me and a walking stick. I would love to do it,” said the 71-year-old former West Wing. The actor is planning to walk from Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port in France to the Spanish town of Santiago de Compostela, where the remains of St James, the apostle of Jesus, are believed to be buried — just like other pilgrims.
