Last year, he had a quiet birthday and Christmas celebrations (due to the demise of his father, Surinder Kapoor). This year too, as Anil Kapoor — who has had big birthday bashes in the past — turns 53 today, he doesn’t plan to go over the top with the revelry. Instead, he has chosen to spend “quiet, quality time” with his entire family, including daughter Sonam.
Anil and his family — comprising of wife Sunita, daughters Rhea and Sonam, and son Harsh — will celebrate his birthday in Goa. “Yes, there’s no party happening because I will be with my family. Actually, 2013 is going to be a very busy year for me thanks to the shooting of my TV series, 24. I will have no time to even breathe. So, the idea is to spend as much time as possible with my family,” says the actor.
Anil Kapoor is a proud dad:
Ask Anil Kapoor about his state of mind right now, on his 53rd birthday, and he sums it up in two words: “content and happy.”
The actor especially feels proud that his daughter, Sonam, is making a name for herself in the industry. Sonam recently signed on a film with the Yash Raj banner, and papa Kapoor couldn’t be happier.
“Yashji (Chopra) used to always congratulate me on Sonam’s performances in films like Saawariya (2007), Delhi-6 (2009) and Mausam (2011). I am happy that she is finally working with them (YRF),” he says.
On work front, Kapoor has two films lined up this year – Sanjay Gupta’s Shootout At Wadala and Abbas-Mustan’s Race 2. He will also start work on Boney Kapoor’s No Entry Mein Entry, soon. “All the films have turned out well. I hope they do well,” he says.
But what he is really looking forward to, is the shooting of his TV series 24. “One of the producers of 24, Michael Click is coming down to hold a few workshops with our actors. And since the workshops are scheduled for January 6 and 7, I have to be in Mumbai. Plus, the casting for the show is in full swing from north as well as south India,” says Kapoor, who has roped in Delhi Belly director Abhinay Deo to direct the Indian version of the hit US TV show.
