And he has been married for three years! Angad Hasija, who plays Alekh in Sapnaa Babul Ka Bidaai, hid this fact from all, including his producers and director of his debut show on Star Plus for the a year and a half. But now he’s ready to announce it to the world. Hasija married Pari three years ago in Delhi, his hometown. Apparently, he hid his marriage because he didn’t want his female fan following to be affected.

Mom’s always right
He chuckles, “It’s nothing like that. I didn’t want my wife to be tagged Ek struggler ki biwi. We got engaged at 20. Among the Sikhs, a guy is eligible for marriage when he’s 20.. for girls it’s even earlier. After the roka, I was given two years to decide if I was sure that I wanted to marry Pari because she was my mother’s choice. I believe that mothers never go wrong. We married a couple of years later.”

He’s also finds it slightly weird when he has to tell people that he’s 25 and has been married for three years now, because everyone considers him to be a kid. He states, “My body language and often, even my behaviour is childish. So, people are a little shocked to hear that I’m married.”

Aamir Khan had also kept his marriage under wraps after his debut Qayamat se Qayamat Tak became a runaway hit. Did he inspire Hasija to hide his biwi? He laughs, “Arrey nahin! I was into modelling and Pari was pursuing her physiotherapy course. I had promised her that I would introduce her to the world in a big way once I had made it.. which I think I have, to a certain extent. Now I want everyone to know that Pari is my better half.”

And now he doesn’t care that it might affect his popularity with the girls! He explains, “My female fans will like me more now. I don’t think my popularity will plummet with young girls either. They still love Aamir Khan and Shah Rukh Khan. So I haven’t lost hope.”

So, what next? Any plans to become a young father? Hasija clarifies, “I married at an early age because my family wanted me to. But Pari and I want to enjoy some time together before we have children.”

Is it worth hiding your marriage?

Rajshri Thakur
It doesn’t affect the popularity of the actor before or after coming to the industry. The audience will like you on the basis of your performance and how convincingly you portray a character you are playing.

My career graph grew steadily after marriage. I bagged a lead role and have acquired plum roles after that in other shows also. If you are confident about yourself, then there’s no need to hide your marital status.

Kamya Punjabi
What crap! It’s bullshit! If you are really sure of roles coming your way, then you don’t need to hide your marriage. I started acting when I was married and it didn’t affect my career.

The medium is for the women, by the women. They really don’t need to hide their marriage because people like to see them as mothers or daughters. However, it’s different for guys. It does affect their popularity because people don’t think they are young any more!

Girls approached me for autographs after I got married to Gauri too. It hasn’t affected my popularity at all.
