Twilight stars Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, who are rumoured to be dating in real life, had begun their on-screen romance in the director's bedroom with a kissing
scene.
Catherine Hardwicke, director of the vampire movie, had taken the audition of the two stars in the privacy of her own bedroom, reported Contactmusic.
Hardwicke, who recently claimed that Pattinson and Stewart are in a real life relationship, didn't want to hire the British actor to play heart-throb vampire Edward Cullen unless he could romantically connect to Stewart in front of the camera. So she auditioned the pair in the bedroom of her California home to test their on-screen chemistry.
The director recently showed the room where the scene was filmed during a US TV interview. "This is the place where we had the first kiss from Rob and Kristen. We did the audition to see if these two would have chemistry, to see if their kiss would be exciting and cool," she said.
Hardwicke admitted that she threw Pattinson and Stewart into the deep end, because they had only just met when she asked them to pucker up.
"I'm like, 'OK, I know you guys just met and everything, but...you're really gonna kiss!'," she added.
