Team India may be having a dismal tour Down Under, and facing harsh criticism from experts and fans alike for their disappointing performance. If the on-field action isn’t giving you something to cheer about, the virtual world is always ready to come to your rescue.
Ibibo, a network for social gaming, has now launched CriCardo, an online game that combines the thrill of cricket and fun of card games. Players can participate in ‘matches’ and deal in ‘fours’ and ‘sixes’ without leaving the table.
Ask Rahul Razdan, president, products and operations, ibibo web pvt ltd, whether the Indian team’s poor performance will have an impact on the game’s launch, and he says, “Given the Indian team’s current form, this game surely will work. Fans may be a little disappointed with their stars currently, so they would like to take matters in their own hands — and play CriCardo online and on their mobiles, to get the thrill that live matches are not giving.”
The game can be played live amongst six players and one round is counted as an over. Each match can be played in three, six and ten overs. You can also choose the type of match you want to play. Options include T3 (a three-over game), Super Sixes (a six-over game) and T10 match (a ten-over game). Cards such as ‘run’ and ‘wide’ too find a mention. The user who drops the highest card in a round wins the round and consequently, the match.
But Sachin Tendulkar, Dhoni and gang needn’t worry. Their statistics and achievements are not up for grabs. “The game play of CriCardo is about hitting fours, sixes and taking wickets on a playing table. Here, the gamers themselves are the cricket stars,” says Razdan.
In the past, ibibo has introduced India’s online games TeenPatti and Mumbai Underworld on the PC and Android mobile platforms. For more info, log on to www.ibibo.com
