Facebook has become the ultimate virtual hotspot. If students and professionals active on the social networking site weren’t enough, now astrologers too are homing in on it, answering queries, spreading knowledge and finding clients.
“Most people today are Internet-friendly. This is the easiest way to reach out to them,” says astrologer Saurabh Kwatra, who has profiles on most social networks including Facebook, Fropper, Yaari and Exploroo.
But more than technology-savvy it was giving the right perspective to astrology that prompted Kwatra to take to the networking media. “Most astro-experts in the country are fake. All astrologers on TV practice ‘fear psychosis’ scaring people by using jargon like rahu-ketu etc.”
Numerologist Lok Deepak Bakshi, also a registered member of Facebook, echoes Kwatra: “Spiritual channels today just add to the ignorance of people. I want people to find the right answers.” There are many like Kwatra and Bakshi on this platform, helping members address find a calmer self. And the arrangement is working. Bakshi recently had an American for Reiki lessons in Mumbai. Kwatra is getting over 100 queries a week from places like Lithuania, Greece and Bosnia.
