With "Battlefield 3" developer in the hot seat, "Star Wars: Battlefront" has been given a provisional release date of 2015.
The information comes courtesy of an investor's call hosted by parent, publisher, and Disney's "Star Wars" partner Electronic Arts.
Should it arrive towards the latter end of the year, Swedish studio DICE will have had 2.5 years on the job, with greater effort brought to bear once "Battlefield 4" ships this October.
The timescale also allows time to get familiar with the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, both entertainment consoles expected to launch this November, and whose level of public uptake will be far more measurable by then.
Only so much as a snow-driven "Battlefront" teaser has been shown out in the open, recalling the battle of Hoth from 1980 film "The Empire Strike Back."
Snowy scenes have also featured in another sci-fi action game, "Destiny," which is being made by the studio that created "Halo" and is due on PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One in 2014.
