Xiaomi appears to be readying its own compact flagship smartphone in response to the recently announced 4-inch iPhone SE. A leaked image of a mystery 4.3-inch smartphone with the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor has been spotted on the Chinese website Weibo.
The smartphone appears to be a smaller variant of the original Mi 5 flagship, which will be unveiled in India on March 31. The company hasn’t yet confirmed a smaller Mi 5 in the making, though leaked image bears a striking resemblance to a Xiaomi smartphone with a physical home button just like the Xiaomi Mi5. According to GizChina, the smartphone is expected to get a 4.3-inch HD display, a Snapdragon 820 chipset, 3GB RAM, 32GB built-in storage and a 13-megapixel primary camera with optical image stabilisation (OIS). The handset is also expected to get a fingerprint scanner.
Xiaomi will launch the Mi 5 in India on March 31, the company’s flagship smartphone for 2016. The Mi 5 comes with Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 820 chipset bundled with a 4GB RAM, the latest 16-megapixel camera sensor from Sony (IMX298), and upto 128GB built-in storage.
The Mi 5 has already bagged a massive response from the Chinese market, with over 16.8 million registrations during its first flash sale. The company says it has set a new record which they managed to achieve in less than a week after the smartphone’s official unveiling.
